Downtown Motel

Downtown Motel, Fort WorthDating from the mid-1960s, this chrome postcard shows the Downtown Motel in Fort Worth, Texas. While the Tarrant County Courthouse is visible in the distance, it’s a stretch to consider this location to be “downtown”, as it was located north of the Trinity River from what is generally regarded as the downtown area. Google Street View of the address reveals that the building and nifty sign still exist, although the sign has been painted over.

  1. One of my favorite landmarks from the 60’s. I remember it being immediately north of downtown, but can’t remember if it was on North Main or White Settlement? Thanks for posting this nostalgic photo!

I’m almost certain it was on White Settlement. Unfortunately I’m pretty certain that I no longer own this card… which would have had the address on the back! Live and learn…
