This linen card is postmarked 1959 and is one of many that captured the popular Playland amusement area. Today Wildwood, New Jersey, renowned for its many examples of mid-century architecture, is celebrating its centennial.

  1. I’d love to see the original photograph to contrast with this, because it’s clear they drew in a lot, mostly just making the lines darker. Along with the color, it gives it a real fantasy effect.

    You’re right Christine, it’s been “worked” considerably. That’s an interesting thing about linen postcards. Many of them look more like an original drawing/painting than something derived from a photographic source.
