The historic resort area, Wildwood by the Sea, has roots in the 1800s. This linen card is postmarked 1959 and is one of many that captured the popular Playland amusement area. Today Wildwood, New Jersey, renowned for its many examples of mid-century architecture, is celebrating its centennial.
How cool! That’s a great carnival themed postcard. Careful Mark! It’s got the potential to arouse old, forgotten memories and will probably stir up nostalgic reflections of the past!

I’d love to see the original photograph to contrast with this, because it’s clear they drew in a lot, mostly just making the lines darker. Along with the color, it gives it a real fantasy effect.

You’re right Christine, it’s been “worked” considerably. That’s an interesting thing about linen postcards. Many of them look more like an original drawing/painting than something derived from a photographic source.
