Providence, Rhode Island’s Arcadia Ballroom opened in 1922. The venue would also host boxing matches in later years, but in the end the building was demolished to make way for a parking lot.
This postcard view of the Rhode Island State Airport, if my research is accurate, has left out some pertinent information, including the name of the facility. It is in fact the T.F. Green Airport, named for the former governor of Rhode Island, and is located in Warwick, about six miles south of Providence.
Here’s a postcard from the Providence-Biltmore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. Call me crazy, but I don’t think that advertising the presence of a poultry farm on the roof is a particularly great idea.
